In the Noble Quran, we have a beautiful description of a believer, see The Noble Quran 14:24-27.

The scholars say that the goodly word is the kalimah La ilaha ill Allah which is the foundation of faith.

And the goodly tree is considered by scholars as the good believer who has a stable foundation in life, who reaches up to the heavens with his dua and produces goodly fruit at all times, no matter what the season is or the weather. The goodly tree is also good to look at because it is very beautiful, just like a believer whose face radiates light (noor).

In addition, the goodly tree being the example of the goodly believer includes all his sayings and actions. And since the source of knowledge for the good believer is, of course, the Quran, Sunnah and knoweldge gained from works of scholars, this shows that the resources of this goodly believer is abundant.

The best thing about this is that no matter how much this goodly believer shares with the people, it will not extinguish his sources rather it will strengthen them and increase him in reward, by the permission of our Merciful Lord.

He is not like the candle that gives off light but burns himself away. Rather he is like a bright lamp, a light house in this darkness.

The prophet, peace be upon him, described this goodly tree as the date palm tree which neither loses its leaves in the winter or summer nor is its supply limited.

The opposite of the goodly tree is the bad tree, described as the word of kufr (unbelief). It is easily ripped up from the surface and has no stability.

Thus, Allah will establish the believers with the word that stands firm, in this life and the next life. This means that, in this life, the believer has the Kalimah as well the Quran and sunnah. In the hereafter, the beleiver, like all people, will be questioned in the grave.

The angels will ask:

"Who is your Lord?" Inshallah, if Allah strengthens us, and I pray He does (amin), we will reply "Allah."

"What is your religion?" Inshallah, again, may Allah give us the strength to say, "Islam".

"What do you say about this man (refering to prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him)?" The good believer will reply, "He is the servant and messenger of Allah, who fulfilled his trust."

They will enquire, "How do you know about him?"

The believer will respond, "I read the final revelation (The Noble Quran)."

Thus, the believer will have a comfortable grave until the Day of Judgement. May Allah allow us to be of them, amin. :D

The Kafir (disbeliever) will not know how to answer these questions and will face a terrible punishment.

It must always be borne in mind that our Lord is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
